The 1000th machine connected with SOPHIA launched in Germany.
A dedicated event at our customer’s site HolzTec Agenture-Handel at Werl and a new achievement to celebrate: the Selco WN7 beam saw is the thousandth machine connected with SOPHIA, the IoT platform created in collaboration with Accenture.
HolzTec Agenture-Handel is a German company that produces Corian® and wood-based materials and provides services for craft activities: founded in 2008, it has quickly increased the production of materials over the years by focusing its activities on cutting, milling and wood edging. Thanks to the IoT SOPHIA platform, installed on the Selco WN7 beam saw, it is possible to enable a wide range of digital services that simplify and rationalize post-sales work management.
SOPHIA is a digital platform that provides users with access to more machine information and initiates concrete actions to optimise performance and monitor the quality of the work produced, anticipating the causes of faults and providing clear solutions to resolve any anomalies. The data gathered and analysed by artificial intelligence is transformed into useful data to help optimise customer production and product quality, providing extremely valuable opportunities for growth. This information also provides customers with tools to prevent problems that could damage production. Thanks to SOPHIA, Biesse can take proactive steps to contact customers, reducing machine stoppages and inefficient time-wasting.
Biesse in collaboration with Accenture has undertaken a challenging digital transformation journey since 2017, aiming to generate greater value from machines. Connecting the 1.000th machine in less than 2 years from the launch of SOPHIA platform is an important event for our company and demonstrates once more our commitment to assure the greatest Customer satisfaction. We are really proud to be one of the few companies in the industry that has reached this milestone, said Stefano Calestani, Service Innovation Director.
Accenture is investing significantly in Industry X.0 capabilities like, for example, the Industry X.0 Innovation Center in Modena. The Center hosts a real manufacturing plant in the heart of Italy’s manufacturing region and consists of a shopfloor with real working machines where companies can use connected devices and collaborative ecosystems to explore solutions for improving efficiency and productivity, transforming operating models, and developing new business opportunities.
Customers from various sectors worldwide can learn first-hand the benefits that the platform provides by visiting the company's stands at the many trade fairs Biesse takes part in and Biesse showrooms worldwide. At LIGNA, the leading biennial event, will be held at Hanover from 27 to 31 May 2019, dedicated to machines, facilities and tools for the processing of wood, SOPHIA is expanding its functionality, which will greatly improve the customised interaction with the customer when it comes to the machine and will significantly reduce the time required for assistance.
Visitors to LIGNA will be able to experience the cutting-edge technological innovation that characterises Biesse, test the tools that enable customers to obtain greater value from machines, and see how SOPHIA can revolutionise and simplify everyday work.
